Lee Powell

Lee is a certified Landscape Architect based in Corvallis, OR. He has spent over three decades crafting designs for outdoor spaces that not only look beautiful but also nurture the environment. Lee studied Horticulture at Oregon State University and then went on to earn his Bachelor’s in Landscape Architecture from Louisiana State University in 1988.
After working in San Francisco with esteemed design firm Bechtel, he returned to Corvallis, Oregon where he took over his family's garden center (Garland Nursery) and built out his expertise in plants and their essential role in supporting local ecosystems.

Lee was a co-owner of Garland Nursery, a fourth-generation family-owned business. For over 85 years, the Nursery provided customers in the Willamette Valley with the highest quality plants and garden supplies. Lee integrates his extensive knowledge of plants into his design approach giving his clients the best opportunity to have a thriving and beautiful landscape.

Lee has worked on diverse projects, from residential gardens to public spaces, with a focus on connecting people to nature. He finds joy in creating lasting design solutions that reflect unique environments, utilizing native plants and eco-friendly practices wherever appropriate. Lee brings 30 years of experience in the Pacific Northwest to help you create a beloved outdoor space.
Lee works with his clients desires, the building’s architectural style, and the existing site features to create a space that gives the client their desired results.
Community & Awards
Lee's involvement in the landscape design and plant industry as well as the local community has been recognized over the years. He won Junior First Citizen from the Corvallis Chamber of Commerce (2000), Retailer of the Year (2000) and OAN Young Nurseryperson (1998) from the Oregon Association of Nurseries.
He finds joy in volunteering for local programs and was a member of the Corvallis Rotary for 32 years. He served as President in 2003. He recently received an honorary life membership award from the Oregon Association of Nurseries in 2023, where he has shaped the direction of nurseries across Oregon. He served as a board member for Oregon Association of Nurseries and was President in 2023. He was also involved in Corvallis Rotary, Good Samaritan Hospital Foundation, Corvallis Chamber of Commerce, Corvallis Civic Beautification Committee, Benton County Planning Commission.
